INTERMISSION
Dvorak Symphony No. 8 in G major, op. 88 37’
Location: Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Ave, Stratford, ON N5A 6N4.
When: March 4, 2023 at 7:30pm
This concert is framed by two much-loved Romantic works: Alexander Borodin's symphonic poem from 1880 and Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 8 from 1889. In contrast to these are two Spanish works separated by more than 250 years. Gaspar Sanz was a Spanish composer of the 17th century; Joaquin Rodrigo was an Spanish composer of the 20th century. Though he was a virtuoso pianist, his most famous work is the classical guitar concerto you will hear today.
Today's soloist is Daniel Ramjattan. He is a versatile and accomplished classical guitarist, teacher and performance coach. He currently teaches in the Faculty of Music of Wilfrid Laurier University. He has given recitals around the globe and has made a number of recordings.
